Asclepias aren’t the only milkweed capable of hosting monarchs.
There are several species of milkweed vines that are also hosts to everything that eats Asclepias (including the pesky oleander aphids). This is a species that is native just south of PA known as anglepod, due to the massive seed pod with wings. Grown from seed from a wild-collected seed pod from northern Georgia.
I will not know which variety these are until they flower, but it is most likely Gonolobus suberosus var suberosus (eastern anglepod) based on where I collected the seed pod.
