Description

One of the more delicate milkweeds in appearance, with extremely fine, needle-like leaves. I don’t think there would be anything left if any insects fed on the leaves themselves. However, the flowers are still a pollinator magnet for the species that utilize it. Taprooted species requiring well-drained soil, similar to orange butterfly milkweed, but with white flowers. Similar in appearance to Amsonia hubrichtii (which is a close relative, though only Asclepias hosts monarchs).

Can grow in full sun to part sun. In part sun, where I have mine, its growth rate will be reduced. Full sun, it will likely grow into a more robust plant with more blooms. Interestingly, I have not seen mine get attacked by aphids like I do with my other milkweeds, but it could just be that they haven’t found it yet.
