I believe the common name of this is a bit of a misbomer, since I think this one is more closely related to goldenrods than other asters.
Not that it matters to anyone other than those who are botanically inclined, because they are all members of Asteraceae (aster family, aka composite flowers), and horticulturally speaking, it looks like an aster. I’d say that the average gardener might think this sounds like the argument “tomato is a fruit,” or “bananas are berries.” Most people don’t care, they just need to know not to put a tomato in a fruit salad (unless it’s a super sweet one, then maybe it would work).
Perfect short little plant with evergreen rosettes, nice, tidy habit, looks great along a walkway border. this plant tops out at 2ft tall with, as you may have guessed, white aster-like flowers.
